Bricked Photon Zero S Mainboard #2

Closed Mfespinosa92 closed 3 years ago

Mfespinosa92 commented 3 years ago

Hello. Is there a way to reinstall the factory firmware onto photon zero s mainboard? A friend of mine attempted to upgrade the firmware and installed the wrong firmware. The printer takes a while to power on and immediately turns off when it does. Contacted anycubic and they recommended that I purchase a new board since I am out of warranty. Their website does not deliver to the U.S. Is there anyway to restore the firmware using the USB slot? Ive got the factory .bin files. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You should be able to just pop the original firmware on a usb and flash it on boot. What firmware did you wrongly flashed onto the printer?

I attempted this. I had no luck. My friend installed the photon S firmware. Is there a specific step that I need to follow?

X3msnake commented 3 years ago

AFIK you should have a fat32 clean formatted drive Unzip the firmware files to the USB root, plug the USB with machine powered down And if all goes correctly the machine should beep and upgrade to the firmware on the usb disk

Do you have a photo of the zero mainboard?

Can you clarify exactly how to do this? The board is bricked, I dont see how just putting in the usb will work. Thank you for the support.

X3msnake commented 3 years ago

The board has a bootloader that will not get overridden. and if the firmware is on the USB it should detect it and flash it. Have you tried the process i described?

Got it. I loaded the firmware onto the usb. Inserted the usb into the printer. Turned it on. Nothing happened. What did I do wrong?

X3msnake commented 3 years ago

Maybe nothing. I don't know how anycubic rigged that board. I do not own one to test. Contact me on facebook via Photonsters fb page so we can chat about it

Unfortunately seems that the only way is to find someone with a working board willing to extract a usable binary and flashing it diretly with a ST-Link.

You should consider doing a printer conversion using Raspberry pi and nanoDLP or buying a MKS or a Chitusystems kit since Anycubic and their policies suck

X3msnake commented 3 years ago

if you do find someone to extract a binary from a qorking board do post it back here it might help out others in the same situation

can you explain how to get the binary from a working printer? I have never encountered it before. and how to load it further through the programmer?

X3msnake commented 3 years ago

out of the scope of what we can help you with lookup on google

st-link dump flash
