Requested by users. Alembic is used for intercahnge of data between 
applications. If the application's plugins can report a one line message like 
this:
   // AbcExport v1.0 for Maya 2010 x64 for Alembic 1.0.0 (built Jul  7 2011)

This way users can know their applications will be in sync with each other.

(Have this almost done see thread "proposal helper lib - version API, 
ArchiveInfo, plugin "hello" messages"

Seems like this should be done (Brian can correct me if I'm wrong) so we'll 
move to PleaseVerify for now? Change the ticket status if that's wrong. Think 
we also need to log a new ticket just for the Renderman work remaining.
