Damnvid does not work in Ubuntu 12.04

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  Damnvid installs but when you click on the icon in the menu nothing 
happens, you have to start the application up from the command prompt.
2.  When / If Damnvid starts up it will not convert any videos and hangs in the 
pending status forever.
3.

What is the expected behavior? What do you see instead?
Program is supposed to launch and convert videos.

What version of DamnVid are you using? On what operating system? Better
yet, paste the system info that you see in the Bug Report dialog, if
possible.

Please attach the file damnvid.log, found the in the following directory:
- %APPDATA%\DamnVid if you're on Windows (Copy/paste that into Explorer's
address bar)
- Home/Library/Preferences/DamnVid on Mac OS X
- ~/.damnvid on Linux
Please provide any additional information below.
