No-w2p fallback #539

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
There should be a fall-back option to take an order even if no w2p is available
for whatever reason.

1. Enable add to cart button on second failure

2. Display a message "Sorry, previews are not available. Complete the order and
we will email you the proof."

3. Allow the order to go through, don't try to generate PDF

4. Save user input and links to images in a order details along with field
names.

5. Show saved user input and links to the uploaded files.

6. Use default previews

4. I understand what user input is, but what do you mean by links to images?

Original comment by jamb...@gmail.com on 16 Jun 2011 at 7:46

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
A user may upload images for ZP image fields. The images are stored in mage to
be picked up by ZP.
They need to be preserved and be downlodable.

Show saved user input and links to the uploaded files in pop-up dialog.
Add link to the order item to show the dialog

Change the error msg to "Cannot update the preview. Try again or add to cart as
is and we will update it manually."

Do this on the second error message.

What the heck are we going to do with multipage templates?
It's a can of worms. Need a separate issue for this.

Please, test it with 2.0.1.0alpha1 release.

I think you need a broken template (with errors on update preview) to test the
issue.

Atanas, finding a broken template is harder than it used to be.
I may need to "break" it for you in real-time while you are testing. Let me
know.

Sorry, it's a fail.

1. update preview snake never stops

2. "Cannot update the preview. Try again or add to cart as is and we will
update it manually." never appeared

3. The message in the shopping cart should read "Could not generate customized
previews. Proceed with the order and we will complete it manually."

4. "_Photo Corner Text (eg price)" is not a user friendly name. Use proper user
friendly names. They are in the XML. Same is for image field "#Image1"

5. The values for image fields are meaningless. Totally meaningless. Show a
thumb of the user image.

5.

Order details says "Show customer's input data "

It's not obvious this is a failed order.

Change it to: "FAILED ORDER: view user data"

This type of error returns a quick response. In other cases the response may
take a while. Let's test it separately.

1. After I click "Update preview", the loader never stops spinning, the preview
remains the same and there are no errors or messages coming up. Its just stays
like that.

2. "Add to cart" button becomes active a few seconds after I click "Update
preview" but that "Cannot update the preview. Try again or add to cart as is
and we will update it manually." msg never appeared.

3. The message I got when I "Add to cart" reads:
The product was added in fallback mode. We will update it manually with your
input data.
Which I think is ok.

4. In admin panel, only the first two images of my order show as thumbs.. one
is some ID string and the rest are not mentioned at all.

- First click on "Update preview"
msg:
Cannot update the preview. Try again.

- Second click on "Update preview"
msg:
Cannot update the preview. Try again or add to cart as is and we will update it
manually.

- "Add to cart" got activated

- Cart page displays this message:
The product was added in fallback mode. We will update it manually with your
input data.

- I'm able to place the order and it is registered in admin side.
------------------------------------
Test OK this far

1. In order details in the admin panel, the image thumbs lead to images that
are much smaller then what I uploaded. Did they get compressed? Where are the
user-uploaded ones?

2. Stock images are represented as some code ID (#Photo_1_Right in the
screenshot is a stock one), how does the admin know which stock image to use?

3. Bottom two images (#Photo_2_Right and #Photo_3_Right in the screenshot) were
set to "Default" value. We should show them as "Default" instead of that #

4. Can we get rid of all the # and _ characters?

5. The "customer's input data" pop-up window should also contain a link to the
product that the order was placed on.

I added a page to the test template. Can you screw it up again? But then, what
will happen when a user can't get a preview generated on the first page. I
don't think they will move on to the second one.

Uploaded image showed up as an ID.

What do we do about multipage templates? The template fails on preview
generation for the first page. What's the point in a fallback mode when the
admin doesn't know what the user input for the second page was? Customer never
got that far anyway.
