Thanks for log,
Openpli image(where I develop) has updated skin parsing library, It looks like
it's not the case for VTI. So when I use some special skin attributes it
doesn't work there.

Anyway it should be fixed now, please test version in attachment. As soon as
you confirm that it works, I will release new version

Hi,
Thanks for quick fix, mediaplayer2 starts normally now.
However muxed subtitles don't seem to be working.
I select them through red button but they don't appear, and when I press TV
button thinking maybe it could help, it says "No subtitles loaded".
I'm sure you'll fix that too soon, thanks again. :)

Hi, thanks for test.

embedded subtitles - either they don't play or as you say are hidden.
TV-button- it's only ment for external subtitles, I will rewrite message so it
makes sense.

Please use test version in attachment - increased z-position of
subtitles-embedded screen, added log messages
If it doesn't work please include log

Thanks

Hi,
Tried to install it in usual way and got a "can't downgrade" message as can be
seen in the attached pic.
Could renaming the .ipk file be a good idea?

I want to separate test versions from final, so they will not mix up, I should
do that also for first upload of 0.46

Removed it first, then install:
opkg remove enigma2-plugin-extensions-mediaplayer2

Ok, muxed subtitles are on now. :)
But they appear almost in the middle of the screen exactly like normal
mediaplayer.
Position setting doesn't seem to have an effect on them.
Probably the hardest part was to make them appear, changing their position
hopefully will be an easier task for you. ;)
Thanks!

When embedded subtitles are on, open subtitles menu, there should be entry:
Subtitle settings (embedded), if it's not there, then quit mediaplayer2 and try
to find subtitle setting in main_menu/system/subtitles_settings and change
position.

Standard subtitle settings in mediaplayer2 are ment for external subtitles.

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
When embedded subtitles are on, there are only two entries in subtitles menu:
1.Choose subtitles
2.Turn off subtitles

Unfortunately there is no option to change vertical position of subtitles in
system/subtitles menu. This is half the reason I prefer mediaplayer2 over the
normal one. (the other half is that it displays italics, bolds, etc. properly)

I think that setting is only available in Pli image, but I'm not planning to go
back to it, because DDamir Subtitle player (which is another very important
plugin for me) doesn't work there, and Pli team are clearly stating that they
have no intention to fix it.

It looks like only Pli and derived images has also position option then. Well,
for now at least we solved GS and dissapearence problem on VTI.

DDamir Subtitle player- I don't know the history but I don't think it's plugin
created by Pli team, it should be authors responsibility to support all
possible images.

Thank you for your help, I will do some little fixes and release new version

You're welcome
new version on main page, also I have good news: positioning of embedded
subtitles will be available in next version on all images thanks to tutorial by
zdenek issue24

Great to hear!

I google-translated issue24 and would like to add that I was using a similar
formula before I started using mediaplayer2.
Instead of modifying main skin.xml, I sent the attached skin_user.xml to
/etc/enigma2 directory. At first, position value was much higher but az zdenek
pointed out, that was causing dvb subtitles being much lower and disappearing
from screen, so I changed that to 42 which I think is the lowest value for
visible dvb subtitles and was keeping mediaplayer subtitles just a little down.

Hope it helps.

Hi thanks for the info.
Just a little update since I was quite busy with subtitles search
functionality(v0.50).

I looked into this and now I know exactly how it works and it should be
possible to also change color, font(italics, regular, bold) and size like in
external subtitles Now it's first priority so next version should have also
embedded subtitles fully customizable on non-pli images.

Hi,
It's great to hear that you figured how it works for embedded subtitles, it
will be wonderful to be able to fully customize them like external subtitles.

As for search functionality, I havent't tried yet but if it includes finding
subs for movies in running TV channels (like DDamir Subtitle Player plugin)
then it's a brilliant idea, because existing movies in portable hard drives
etc. often have their subtitles already prepared and synchronized in PC, but
either way it's a great improvement, compliments on your work for this plugin!
:)

Hello again,
Installed and tried 0.50 version late last night.
Wanted to see how search function works by pressing blue button, but it gave
green screen and the device restarted with default SD skin.
Log file attached.

Thanks, maybe I should put somewhere test version first since on Openpli is no
problem. It's again skin issue, but this time I did a mistake, but pli is more
tolerant about it.

Please test, subtitles search is not for dvb broadcasting, I did it because I'm
also developing plugin for playing vod streams, so subtitles are essential
there, for mp2 it's only bonus feature which can come handy sometime..

Thank you for fixing quickly, it's working ok now.
As you said, it's a nice bonus feature for mp2, if it was for dvb broadcasting
as well, I would have requested to add to the settings websites with turkish
subtitles too, like divxplanet.com and turkcealtyazi.org :)
