No Download, No Playback - Recent upgrade

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I updated joomla from 1.7 to 3.3.3 - the player does not work
2. I uninstalled and reinstalled the player. still does not work
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I need the mp3 to download, and it just opens a page with the folder path, and 
the mp3 file name, but does not download.

The player does not playback. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
J3.3.3 - 

I am on a mac, using safari.

Please provide any additional information below.

am currently facing similar issue, when I click on the download button its 
opens up a new tab and start playing the song. That is not what I want, I want 
song to be downloaded once the download button is clicked and not to play it 
unless I press the play button

I think what you're reporting is essentially the same as issue #38 (let me know 
if it's not). So I will close this in favor of issue #38. There is no 
resolution of issue #38 at this time. I'll gladly accept patches.
