Traffic shaping and counting #90

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
It would be nice to have some limits to a vps bandwidth
(http://wiki.openvz.org/Traffic_shaping_with_tc) or at least show some
statistics about a vps traffic.

I managed to test both trafic shaping and accounting, but manually, but i hope
eventually i will be able to integrate them somehow int owp...

For adding/deleting the limits and graphs we can use a bash script to which we
send 2 variables from owp: ctid and bandwidth limit (eg: 10 mbit).

A user from a german forum asked me if it is planned to include an email
reporting function for users, wehen the traffic limit was exceeded. Is it or
not?

It would be just perfect with traffic counting like suspending vps when it goes
over traffic quota.

Traffic Listing is a nice feature. Incomming, outgoing and complete traffic on
day/week/month year was fine....

Hi, great work!!
We are looking into this great panel for production server, but before it is
usable, a few traffic functions would be greatly appreciated :)

1. Bandwidth (speed) upload and download separate/individually set perhaps?
2. Traffic counting and suspension (quota) here it would be gold to have it
separated, since many places you can have unmetered download, but only a
certain amount of upload. (many paid panels don't have this)

I think traffic counting would the one of the most needed features. Probably
after this many hosts would start using this panel and probably start donation
for it.

Hi team,
Traffic shapping/managing/counting feature seems cool for the OWP.
I have quite simple solution (based on Shaper Control Tool) for small internet provider with htb shaper on one network device (ethX, venet - i guess) with ifb pair to limit traffic in both sides, it has hash optimization on filters, and was able to handle 1+ Gb/s (in+out) traffic on single machine with NAT for about 1000 internet users.
If you are intrested in this feature, I would like to share with my code and knowledge to boost this feature.

Thanks.
