currently testing this coupler-less solution and it seems to be a really good lightweight alternative. Just need to check for reliability on long use and maybe modify the model a bit.

it is reliable but not super happy with how much variance there is based on what type of PTFE tubing you use). Also, too much tweaking is required (if you go too far the tubing gets compressed inside the taper).
