so far I have tried both send smpt settings and nothing sends, or how do you know something sent. I don't understand I guess. Can you give me more information on how to and what to expect?

Hi Diana,

The best way to test is to create a list with your email address in it, then create a campaign and select the list you created as the recipient. When you publish the campaign, it will send it. If you don't receive it, then something went wrong. There are a lot of reasons why email wouldn't send, from a misconfigured server to being blocked by your web host. It would be hard to say without knowing how your site is setup.

Thanks. Lew

Hi Lew,

Thank you for your reply. I did get a single campaign to work and finally the post digest, but I am confused on how it determines what to pull in. Is it a certain time frame before the scheduled send?

Happy Holidays,

Diana

Hi Diana,

When you set a campaign as a digest, it should present you with the scheduler to set the frequency (http://l3w.us/images/2e6ef9.png).

Happy Holidays to you too :) Lew

Hi Lew,

Yes, that is working too, but what is the difference between an each post and a post digest campaigns? Do I need the start and end loop merge tags for both?

Each post means that if you write a new post, it is automatically emailed out to all your subscribers. A digest collects all the new posts for the given period, then emails the collection on the scheduled time. The start/end loop are only required for digests.

diananashif commented 9 years ago

Ok, thank you Lew that makes it clearer to me. Will be adding a featured image merge tag?

Hey Diana,

It's technically possible, but I don't have a CSV import add-on built for PigeonPack yet. It's one of the many things I plan on doing for Pigeon Pack. Not exactly sure when I'll get to it though.

Thanks. Lew

Great, thank you Lew......

Another question:

I can send using the built-in wp_mail() function but can't using the smtp settings.

We have a managed server at SingleHop and the settings they require are: Outgoing Server: server3.standupgirl.com

SMTP Port: 465

Authentication is required for IMAP, POP3, and SMTP.

Here is what I have tried, any ideas for me as to why it won't work?

Hi Diana,

Did it require setting any Encryption level and did you add your Authentication username/password?

If you can, send me your SMTP credentials to support@pigeonpack.com and I can test it myself.

Thanks! Lew

diananashif commented 9 years ago

I tried them all..............checked with singleHop support and they found this following in the logs:

For some reason the authentication will not stay set to yes when saved. Here are my smtp credentials:

_REDACTED_

Thank you for looking into this Lew................very much appreciated! Diana

Hey Diana,

I just pushed out version 1.0.10, it should fix the problem with the "Yes, use SMTP authentication" setting not saving. I think this will fix the problem for you. Let me know if it doesn't help!

Thanks. Lew
