Simply changing the API version won't guarantee that everything else will work along with it. There are many API changes happening in the ALPHA versions, so other things must also be checked to make sure everything is still functional. (ALPHA7-ALPHA8 changes are mainly with Async tasks, which PiggyAuth uses heavily.)
