Would be neat to see how/if it'd be possible to add https://cactus.chat/ integration onto posts.

I'm not incredibly familiar with Matrix but it looks like they outline some reasonable getting started docs: https://cactus.chat/docs/getting-started/quick-start/

It looks to consist of a bit of CLI work followed by adding some HTML & JS code to include & initialize the client.
