Thanks for the feedback. The atmospheric effects were implemented using this model which is very accurate but may need some adjustments. Do you have screenshots showing the issues you're describing?
I expect to see some brightness in the atmosphere slightly after sundown due to scattering. What kind of interaction between the sun and the atmosphere limb are you expecting?
You should be seeing color effects on objects, for example look at "Shuttle Atlantis / Launch into Sunrise" scenario.
These two screenshots show what I am talking about. The first shows that the shuttle still has full on daylight brightness going after sunset and no coloring. The second shows the atmosphere limb being visible long after sunset and the shuttle is still not shaded.
This is a archived video from the now defunct ISS High Definition Earth Viewing Experiment (HDEV) which consisted of a set of COTS HD cameras that shows how sunrises/sunsets actually look on orbit. It should cue up to just a few seconds or so to when ISS entered orbital morning, if not, just go to the 13:00 mark:
The atmosphere rendering while phenomenal, needs improving as you can still see it well after sundown on-orbit and there's no interaction between the sun and the atmosphere limb as well as no color effects on objects.
