BIOM file without sample metadata freezes the main screen #36

If you upload a BIOM file with no sample metadata, the main window will show the animated spinner but will go nowhere. I think a more appropriate behavior would be to error out if no metadata is found or to operate without sample metadata.

Thanks for the feedback - adding in error alerts it top priority for our next phase of development (see comment on issue #15)
