Dangerously loud volume output #119

I just noticed tonight that while listening to the YouTube Music app with Wavelet on my ROG Phone 5s Pro running their latest version of their operating system through my wired Verum One headphones that toggling Wavelet's AutoEQ function (and only that function active) either in or off while music is playing causes the audio output to massively spike for a very brief moment. It was so loud that I physically jumped from surprise and if it weren't as short of a blast as it was I am certain this would have very quickly resulted in hearing damage and possibly ruined headphones on lesser headphones. It was so loud that when I tried with the volume as low as it would go, I still heard the audio for that brief moment at what I would describe as a slightly quieter than normal listening volume (for context of how loud it was at a normal listening volume). I do not notice this behavior with wireless earbuds such as my Galaxy Buds Live. My best guess is this may be an issue with my phone's DAC exhibiting this weird behavior when this app changes its state state and not directly your app causing this, but I wanted to make you aware in case it is or is something you can code in protections for if not completely fix.

Update: The issue apeears to no longer be present after rebooting my phone.

Thank you for the report. In case the issue returns, could you please report back if enabling the limiter resolves it?

Absolutely. Hopefully it doesn't though. 😉

I encountered the same problem on my poco f2 pro while listening to spotify. It happens after changing the buffer size to any other value than default, and then switching any option to off(autoeq, graphic eq, limiter and the rest). The limiter doesn't change anything. Only way to fix this is to restart the app. Legacy mode doesn't have this problem. Miui 12.5.1.0

Have this every time I switch to the app on Oppo A32 when not in legacy mode. Or when I play the music, and it starts a new session it will go to 100% volume

Also happens on my Redmi Note 12 Turbo when I don't enable legacy mode It's running on Android 13 MIUI 14.
