7 years ago Right. This one's a bit tricksy because of the way the config system works in MODO. You can save your own layouts now, of course, but if I make a change to Zen that requires a prefs reset, there's a good chance it will break your layout as well. That's one of the big reasons I like the new Zen with the flyout panels: much less customization should be needed for folks like your animator. If you can tell me what specific customizations she wants I can try to put something together for her. I'm also hoping to build a separate kit for extracting useful prefs from the user CFG file, thus creating a more reliable user prefs export than File > Config Export. It won't work for layouts, though.
While one can of course save a custom layout inside modo just like always, it would be super swell if Zen could also allow to save a custom "Zen" layout and present only the user saved Zen layouts in an interface for easy retrieval.
For example, my animator likes Zen, but she is not too hot on the slash and burn way of creating and then destroying layouts again in Zen. She's love to have the ability to have a "Save Layout" button in the G popover so she can save her animation specific layout (which tends to get destroyed when you introduce new interface features as one has to reset to the default layout in some cases for all the new features to appear).
