[enchilada] Media buttons on BT headphones not recognized #234

Closed robertototaro closed 3 years ago

robertototaro commented 3 years ago

Build date

PixelExperience_Plus_enchilada-11.0-20210619-1155-OFFICIAL

Expected Behavior

Using the volume buttons on BT headsets or headphones should change the volume on the device as well.
It should be possible to start/stop/skip tracks using the buttons on the BT headphones.
It should be possible to answer calls using the buttons on the headphones.

Current Behavior

The media buttons on BT headphones/headset are ignored

Possible Solution

No idea, sorry. Please contact me if you need more information or logs. I will be happy to help.
I removed all BT devices and repaired them, but that did not change anything.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Connect BT headphones (I tested this with two devices, both from Bose: QuietComfort 35 II and SoundSport Wireless)
2. Try to change the volume or stop/start the music using the media button on the headphones/headset
3. The actions will be ignored

Hello! Have you tried with other headset?

robertototaro commented 3 years ago

I will borrow different ones and let you know. That said, the headsets worked as expected with OxygenOS 10.x, they have no issues with the latest LineageOS (on two different tablets) and also with iOS 14.6 (business phone).

I tried with a pair of JBL Bluetooth headphones. Same behavior.

I noticed something else: when the phone is connected to the car's media system, I no longer see song title and author on the car's display, only "Bluetooth media playing". Earlier I used to see the media information.

I think you have this problem because we are using OK Google hack. Wait. I will add new vendor blobs :)

@robertototaro Try to reproduce this in new build when it will out

robertototaro commented 3 years ago

@SevralT I installed OOS 11.0.0 as a base and then the latest PE+ build. The situation hasn't improved a lot, unfortunately: the only change is that now a long press on the stop/play button will start Google Assistant.

Can you reproduce the issue?

Oh... Idk. I changed all trees, vendor and kernel. It it not my problem. I think it is PE issue.

robertototaro commented 3 years ago

@SevralT Before I switched to the PE+ official builds I used the unofficial builds made by zahidm on XDA, and back then BT worked fine. Maybe you could have a look and see what he did differently. I would be happy to help, if I had the necessary know-how, but I have absolutely zero experience with building Android ROMs.

Tested by me and one tester. It works!
