Exact same behavior on Cepheus (overheating/ increased SOC clocks + eventually lagging).
Facing same problem of overheating, lag, battery drain, and also slow charging while using.
Same thing with polaris. The device is difficult to use.
Update on this: Does not work but helps a bit. I suggest clearing cache for Pixel Launcher and clearing cache and data for Device Health Services (source: Google Help Forums)
I don't know if this will apply to everyone but setting Pixel Launcher to restricted battery usage seems to fix the issue.
Steps: Open settings (android settings not launcher settings) and tap on Apps
Tap on "See all (x number) apps"
Scroll/Search for Pixel Launcher
Tap on Battery
Tap on Restricted
We will try to fix that with gapps update on December update.

Expected Behavior
Phone does not overheat and/or lag. Battery drain is normal.
Current Behavior
When connected to a network (tested with WiFi), the phone starts to overheat and the Pixel Launcher starts to lag. Battery drain is significantly increased. Can confirm this is only when connected to a network as when I'm offline or connected to a managed network (Tested with no WiFi and managed school WiFi), the phone does not exhibit such issues.
Possible Solution
I'm suspecting this has something to do with the Pixel Launcher having a network activity stuck somewhere in the background that's making the phone run hot and slow.
Steps to Reproduce
Not sure but this is my current settings for Pixel Launcher if that helps:
Notification Dots: On
At a Glance: on
Personalization:
Add app icons to home screen: Off
Swipe to access Google app: On
Overview suggestions: Off
Suggestions:
Search your phone:
Allow home screen rotation: Off
If it matters, I also have a Galaxy Wearable, battery, Digital Wellbeing and weather widget.
