E: Package is for product OnePlus8Pro but expected instantnoodlep #4179

Closed seva closed 1 year ago

seva commented 1 year ago

Build date

PixelExperience_Plus_instantnoodlep-13.0-20230109-0345-OFFICIAL.zip

Expected Behavior

I've attempted to sideload PixelExperience 13 Plus on top of 12 Plus on One Plus 8 Pro using the latest PixelExperience recovery or TWRP.

Current Behavior

on PixelExperience recovery I'm getting "E: Package is for product OnePlus8Pro but expected instantnoodlep" on TWRP I'm getting "error 11"

The same happens when installing the non-plus version PixelExperience_instantnoodlep-13.0-20230109-0345-OFFICIAL.zip

Possible Solution

Not sure if the package is corrupted, or if there is an incompatibility between v 12 and 13 installations.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. flashed the new vbdata and dtbo images
  2. flashed the new recovery
  3. attempted to sideload the zip package
  4. observed the error

/device instantnoodlep /version thirteen_plus

Tried PixelExperience_Plus_instantnoodlep-13.0-20221113-0624-OFFICIAL.zip - the same result.

PixelExperience_Plus_instantnoodlep-12.1-20220528-1929-OFFICIAL (the same version I had before) works fine, so apparently, the packages are incompatible.

Hi @seva the problem is you install PE 12.1 on top of 13 that is not possible due the base. PE 12.1 is based on OOS11 and 13 is based on OOS13. The solution is to clean install PixelExperience_Plus_instantnoodlep-13.0-20230109-0345-OFFICIAL.zip with PE recovery. If you do that flash vbmeta and dtbo found on the wiki install page and then flash PE recovery.

Thanks for the reply.

1st, I'm trying to installing 13 on top of 12, not vice versa.

2nd, I followed the process on wiki precisely in the first place, including flashing vbmeta, dtbo and PE recovery from boot loader, formatted the data, and this is how I got this error.

BTW, I also noticed that 12 and 13 recovery images are exactly the same size. Is it possible that the 13th recovery is just a renamed 12th one and that would be the reason?

Or maybe just the 3 images are not enough and more needed to reconstruct 13th firmware?

@seva

  1. That will also not working
  2. The PE recovery images are not the same, there is an difference in the PE recovery.

no the 3 images is all you need i installed myself that way. If you cant install it then most be something with the process you following. I can help you wit that

1st flashed vbmeta, dtbo and recovery 2nd boot into new recovery, format data and sideload the rom. (flash the imgs (vbmeta, dtbo, recovery) within fastbootd mode of the prior a13 recovery (not sideload) and then rebooted to new recovery, formatted data and sideloaded the rom)

No, I followed the process precisely. I'll record a video to show.
