Stuck into fastboot after updating #5861

Closed aurelsmn closed 8 months ago

aurelsmn commented 11 months ago

Build Date

PixelExperience_Plus_raphael-13.0-20230815-1933-OFFICIAL

Device

raphael

Version

thirteen_plus

Describe the Bug

I tried to update directly from Android.

It didn't rebooted to Android but got stuck on the fastboot screen, even after forcing reboot.

The exact same problem has already been noticed in April (#4948) and apparently the issue had been closed without solving the actual problem.

In this previous issue, someone said that the problem would not happen with OrangeFox but since this recovery is not the one recomanded in the wiki and since this device is not officially supported by OrangeFox, I don't think that's a solution.

That's why I'm reopenning this issue.

Steps to Reproduce

Update from PixelExperience_Plus_raphael-13.0-20230815-1933-OFFICIAL to PixelExperience_Plus_raphael-13.0-20231128-1310-OFFICIAL (the last build) from Android.

Expected Behavior

The update should have been made without any issue.

Possible Solution

To be able to use my device again I had to boot to TWRP from a downloaded image using adb. Once I was in TWRP I was able to follow the regular PixelExperience installation steps (format data, adb sideload...). Finally, I had to reinstall TWRP, booting again to TWRP from an image on my computer and then making a proper install of it from an image I downloaded on the device.

I finnally got my phone working again, but loosing all data...

Confirm same problem on same device. Had to go through TWRP to wipe data and sideload from there the new update. This update even changed kernel image to another one (from SOVIET-STAR to englezos) so I assume wipe data and clean install is necessary...
