Sometimes I would like to convert a video file and have it exactly the same 
specs as another one. I would like to have the option available to read the 
settings of a certain movie file and save the settings as a preference.

I think this is a great idea, but as the results of codecs are not easy to 
predict I think this will be hard to accomplish. For some codecs it might work, 
for others it might not.
