Should the seafloor be a planetmap? (discussion thread) #81

I've heard of issues with planetmaps, but it COULD be interesting.

For one, the diving bell could actually dock on top of tiles and stop the flooding caused by opening the diving bell hatch

also it will probably make procedural wrecks/areas easier to implement

And i believe i can still make it so sweetwater and the currently mapped surrounding area exist, it'll just procedurally generate everything past the current map. Maybe just a flatter expanse with some icy rocks and stuff spaced out. Like the crater's edge of subnautica, sweetwater is built near some sort of hydrothermal/biological hotspot that allows much more life to thrive

but i've heard that planetmaps are painful sometimes, i'm not entirely sure why but many people say that
