Hi, I found this link for how to install Unreal Source code, im not sure exactly how it all works but i feel it can be somewhat beneficial to others:
this is the readme included in the Epic games organisation that will allow you to download git hub for windows allowing you to easily download your repos and clone/ fork them so you can modify them without affecting the master.

IT Takes a while to compile on my PC so if your working off a laptop you might want to give this a miss unless its pretty decent spec.
