@DoctorMikeReddy Hi Mike, I was wondering if perhaps you could give a bit more detail into how you want the map flattened, originally I was just going to make everything completely flat but perhaps like a outta wall that's made of mountains, but I thought that was a bit simplistic.
So I thought i'd give ago at smoothing out the pathways that leads up into the walkable parts of the mountain so it gives it a better transition throughout the map, In the crudely drawn picture in paint below I was thinking of attempting style (a) so there is some elevation in the map so its not completely linear and open to seeing everything from anywhere.
The only problem I'm finding with this is when i try and inspect everything with the first person camera prefab(because it has gravity and is stuck to the ground) when i walk down this test part of a mountain path I've been experimenting on, the character tends to bounce constantly. I'm not sure if this is because of the prefab or what, and seeing as we don't have movable dino's I can only assume this would be the case for them too if they were walking down this path? because if it is, it would take far to long and far to much space to create a fairly flat path leading up to a elevated ground so that when they walk back down there are not bobing up and down like a slinky.
so it'd bring me back to the idea of simply just flattening everything.
any thoughts/idea's?
It sounds like the smoothing you are doing isn't very smooth, hence the bouncing. Not sure if this would affect the dinos, but we could stick a heron on that part to see how they performed. However, it sounds like flattening the whole map might yield better results. Try it on a copy of the scene and see.
yeah that's what im wondering if i'm doing something wrong with the smoothing.. because the terrain has like a smoothing pen, which im doing to smooth but like i'm not sure if the collision is smooth like the mesh..

What is the status of your flattened map @14016036 ?
stop this last week until we got a hold of the second text file so the master's default terrain didn't get messed up with the new camera upgrades @DoctorMikeReddy
That's done on the master branch now. A new scene file islandFLAT.unity with its own texture/terrain files @14016036
Thought i'd take Mikes advise and start looking into flattening the mountains a bit more around the map for the dino's to explore more of the terrain
