Remove "part of plant" from plant phenological trait definition #85
PPO:0002000 (plant phenological trait) is a subclass of PATO:quality and is defined as "A {PATO:'quality'} of a {'portion of a plant'} or a {whole plant} that provides phenologically relevant information about the 'portion of a plant' or the 'whole plant'."
We added the phrase "a {'portion of a plant'}" to cover the situation when a structure is absent from a photograph or herbarium specimen that does not show the whole plant. However, it adds complication to the reasoning and is no longer required for us to ingest data. The definition will be changed to:
A {PATO:'quality'} of a {whole plant} that provides phenologically relevant information about the 'whole plant'.
Because of the change of definition, plant phenological trait will need to be removed from the PPO_plant_trait pattern file.
This decision was made at the PhenoBase group call on 4/16.
