current disease definition: A maize fungal disease (PDO:0000012) caused by Cochliobolus carbonum (PDO:XXX).

Comments: this was an alternative latin name for Bipolaris zeicola, but was the Pathogen species in the PHI-base sheet. Probably needs some synonyms.

APS disease sheet also lists Helminthosporium ear rot (race 1) as the disease common name. Not sure if that should be a synonym or completely new term.
