Request for less specific 'stratification exposure' definition or additional subclass of 'physical plant exposure' #132

Hello! I am looking for a more general definition of stratification exposure OR a more specific subclass of 'physical plant exposure' (such as 'dormant seed exposure'?) that includes conditions to overcome seed dormancy other than cold and wet conditions.

The current definition for 'stratification exposure' (A physical exposure (PECO:0007316) involving both low temperature and moist conditions to overcome seed dormancy. A stratification process is used to pretreat seeds to simulate natural winter conditions in order to overcome dormancy and allow germination.) is excellent and clearly written but excludes many stratification exposure conditions. The common usage for 'stratification exposure' in the literature includes treatments to overcome dormancy such as dark/medium-temp, dark/wet/warm, dark/wet/cold, and 'dark-stratified' only. Do you see what I mean? Interested in your thoughts.

Thank you!

Hi Kristen, Thanks for reaching out about this PECO term. It does seem that this could use some fine tuning and we could add a few more specific child terms.
It would be really helpful if you could propose a revised definition for the general class and suggest what child (more specific) terms you think would be appropriate.
We are currently a bit short-handed and this is not my area of expertise.
Please include the reference source or citation for the definitions.
Once we settle on the needed changes, I can implement them and we are happy to credit your contributions. Best, Laurel
