Added several new terms to accomodate tuber (and other flesh):

Portion of storage parenchyma tissue (child of portion of parenchyma tissue): A portion of parenchyma tissue specialized for carbohydrate storage. (Still need to work on definition with possible XPs to GO or ChEBI terms). Comment: This tissue could be found in any organ, but often occurs in fruits or tubers.

Portion of fruit storage parenchyma tissue: A portion of storage parenchyma tissue that is part of a fruit.

Portion of tuber storage parenchyma tissue: A portion of storage parenchyma tissue that is part of a tuber. Syn: flesh, flesh tissue

Portion of aerial tuber storage parenchyma tissue: A portion of storage parenchyma tissue that is part of an aerial tuber. Syn: fruit flesh

Portion of subterranean tuber storage parenchyma tissue: A portion of storage parenchyma tissue that is part of a subterranean tuber. Syn: potato tuber flesh Comments: This is the term that would be used to refer to potato tuber flesh. See more specific terms for different portions of subterranean tuber flesh.

Note: on my previous comment, fruit flesh should not be listed as a synonym for portion of aerial tuber flesh. That was a typo.

carbohydrate: CHEBI:23008 starch: CHEBI:28017

GO does not have a term for carbohydrate storage (has a bunch of other carbohydrate terms), may want to request

at POC meeting on 6-1-10, we decided to remove the 'tissue, from all the term names, but keep 'portion of' pending further discussion by the group.

Exact syns: flesh, fleshy tissue. (Can add XP to carbohydrate: CHEBI:23008 or starch: CHEBI:28017; GO does not have a term for carbohydrate storage, need to request).

fruit storage parenchyma (PO:0025037): A storage parenchyma that is part of a fruit. Syn: fruit flesh

tuber storage parenchyma (PO:0025036): A storage parenchyma that is part of a tuber. Syn: tuber flesh.

aerial tuber storage parenchyma (PO:0025039): A tuber storage parenchyma that is part of an aerial tuber.

At the POC conference call on 6-14-10, we decided that the phrase 'portion of' should be included in definitions of tissue terms. So, for example, storage parenchyma will be defined as 'a portion of parenchyma specialized for carbohydrate storage. This makes it clear that we are using count nouns and not mass nouns.
