current def: "A group of four haploid cells that remained joined together shortly after meiosis. Each cell will give rise to the male gametophyte." [TAIR:ki] subset: reference

suggest is_a portion of plant tissue, already have develops_from microsporocyte

Proposed definition: A portion of plant tissue consisting of four haploid cells that remained joined together shortly after meiosis. Each cell will give rise to the male gametophyte.

This definition was accepted at the POC meeting on 12-15-10.

We will also add the term tetrad of megaspores, with the comment: Usually only one of the four megaspores develops and the other three die.
