sporangium theca #309

Closed planteome-user closed 9 years ago

Moss ontology has requested the term theca. We already have the term theca (PO:0009069) to describe paired microsporangia in angiosperms. Maybe we should call that '''anther theca''' and call this term '''sporangium theca:'''.

Proposed def.: A cardinal organ part that is the main body of a sporangium and has spores located in it. Comment: Term used in mosses and other bryophytes (what about pteridophytes?)

This would seem appropiate.

But in anthers is this not the term used after the two cell layers between the two sporogenous areas have broken down to produce a single area the theca?

sporangium theca (PO:0030041 was accepted at the POC meeting on 4-28-11.

See separate tracker for anther theca.
