marginal and submarginal initial #475

Open planteome-user opened 12 years ago

We could use terms for marginal initial and submarginal initial. The definitions of phyllome marginal meristem (PO:0025404) and leaf marginal meristem (PO:0025405) refer to these cell types.

Suggest we call these phyllome marginal/submarginal initial cell for clarity, and make subtypes for vascular leaves.

Proposed definitions:

phyllome marginal initial cell: An initial cell (PO:0004011) that is on the margin of a phyllome marginal meristem (PO:0025404) and gives rise to cells to the protoderm (PO:0006210). comment: May also give rise to cells of the interior of a phyllome lamina (PO:0025396), as in some ferns.

leaf marginal initial cell: A phyllome marginal initial cell (PO:id) that is on the margin of a leaf marginal meristem (PO:0025405) and contributes cells to the protoderm (PO:0006210). comment: May also produce cells of the interior of a leaf lamina (PO:0020039), as in some ferns.

phyllome submarginal initial cell: An initial cell (PO:0004011) that is part of a phyllome marginal meristem (PO:0025404) beneath the protoderm (PO:0006210) and gives rise to cells of the interior of a phyllome lamina (PO:0025396).

leaf submarginal initial cell: A phyllome submarginal initial cell (PO:id) that is part of a leaf marginal meristem (PO:0025405) beneath the protoderm (PO:0006210) and gives rise to cell of the interior of a leaf lamina (PO:0020039).
