This works but to be precise and no let position dictate I would add "....develops from nonmeristematic tissue.....". Or perhaps not "develop" but use "...that are initiated...". The reason for this is that axillary buds, which develop in the axillary position can often be displaced later by differential growth. Sometimes to leaf tips, the node above, the node below, or even to the other side of a node. These are most common in Monocots and there are many papers on it. Too often people focus on the position and not the development. And initiation is the key here because development of the bud can occur later.

Could the title be made a little more generically, like "adventitious shoot" rather than "branch". It follows the use of "shoot" and "shoot system" to describe "branches" and "branching"
