stem senescence (TO:0001036), child of stem anatomy and morphology trait, has been obsoleted. All annotations should be directed towards the developmental term, stem senescence (TO:0020085).

Revised definition of stem senescence (TO:0020085): A shoot development trait (TO:0000654) to measure the senescence of a stem (PO:0009047).

Comment: Refer to organ senescence (GO:0010260): The process that occurs in an organ near the end of its active life that is associated with the dismantling of cell components and membranes, and an overall decline in metabolism. An example of this process is found in Arabidopsis thaliana.
