Ideal method to upgrade to the upstream (LARBS of Luke) #4

Hi again, Adrian,

Is there an ideal way to upgrade to the upstream code from https://github.com/LukeSmithxyz/LARBS?

I tried just to download the source code of dwm from https://github.com/LukeSmithxyz/dwm and recompiled and deployed. Lo and behold, everything went amok including the notifications as well as as clickability, despite I merged the diff from your config with that of Luke's!

The reason I am asking is the 'tutorialvids' (Mod+Shift+e) configurations do not match with this fork as well as there are multiple progressive changes Luke made so far since.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers and stay safe, /z

You're trying to move from Adrian's LARBS to Luke's LARBS? I'm currently deploying Luke's dot files after running Adrian's LARBS on my system... We should figure out a nicer way to document support for Luke's LARBS on Void. Perhaps each person should have their own dotfiles in a different branch (that they can rebase on upstream)?

Hopefully @PlatinumClaridge can give us an easy method to re-run his Void installer, but use Luke's dot files... Though the dot files might be tailored to what software is available for Void... I can't tell. Also how are you getting around the libxft problem?

It’s beyond me how no one has taken this further - Void being such a brilliant platform to Luke’s genius configuration. With Adrian seemingly absent from this superb contribution perhaps jake@linux could pick up the pieces? I personally would be quite content with Adrian’s present solution if only Luke’s implementation of image previews were possible - something that my skill set has failed miserably with. Jake......?
