My current research topic DAW comparison. I‘ve watched two already, and it looks like LMMS is the way to go, as the others are not really open source and to some degree not even available on Linux.

I wonder, if there are non-gui options that are just as good and usable.

I haven‘t used it, but it seems to be the popular solution: Krita. Don‘t forget it. I hope with the right tablet attached to a Linux computer this can be as good as Procreate.
