I was experiencing some freezes in vscode while deleting a file to the thrash, looks like is the KDE io problem, found this solution? https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/90034#issuecomment-582115953

create a file ~/.config/plasma-workspace/env/electron-trash-gio.sh with:

export ELECTRON_TRASH=gio
