Note that this is working fine on our continuous integration server as well as for me locally.

Yes, master (cloned 5-6 days ago). Redhat Fedora 20, gcc 4.8.2

Sorry for the late reply. You are using an external libmets, which doesn't seem to be compatible to PCL. If you don't need the recognition module, you can simply disable it. Otherwise, Try the PCL version located in recognition/include/pcl/recognition/3rdparty/metslib/. I will leave this bug open, as it's really bad to provide our own version. @arbeitor can you take care of this?

Quick note, this issue is still alive and well. I'm attempting to build PCL on CentOS 6 and grabbed the latest version of metslib from source and built it (version 0.5.3) which results in:

The cmake build doesn't note anything about a local version being available to build against just generates an error noting there isn't one available which is what prompted me to install 0.5.3.

I had the same problem compiling PCL 1.7 on raspberry pi. Especially when I spent 8 hours compiling it to 90%, it made me crazy. I installed metslib manually,now I will uninstall it, and try again.
