Fwiw the SWSH4
-style code is also used on, say, the external packaging of booster box cases that stores receive. (It is also used internally on PTCGO.)
I am fully on board with VIV
being a "set abbreviation." For SWSH4
I like "set code"; I could also see something like "internal set code" or "internal code," although since these abbreviations appear on packaging perhaps they aren't strictly just "internal" anymore.
I am fine just picking "set code" unless either a) someone finds an official reference for the term or b) someone can call out an instance where this phrase would be dangerously overloaded.
Some places use things like
SWSH4
for Vivid Voltage, some useVIV
. I feel there's merit in both naming structures, as one style is usable before the set name and the "official" abbreviation get revealed, and the other is used for official deck lists.I've been calling things like
SWSH4
"set codes" and things likeVIV
as "set abbreviations". The latter is based off of what they're called on deck lists ("abbreviation"/"abbr."), but no official reference for the former.Thoughts on what to call these?
