Yeah I know this game probably isn't updated but I really like the 'strategy' element, even though this ruleset lends itself to spamming the most effective things over and over.

Glad to hear you enjoy it! There's a little bit of progression in there, enough that the best strategies change over time. I'd love to see someone take the concept even further with more variability and progression.

It was fun during the progression stage when I was buying upgrades. Also I've always liked games with different colors/styles of the same things :P

Here are my feedback/design considerations.

• Multipliers are too strong; Row synergy is too strong Assuming a standard block is +$60, Slug and Tango's 1.8x on rows add +$48 on value. It's better than anything else and the row synergy doesn't help. I'd almost consider making Row and Diagonal just 'regular' buttons on the grid.
• Customizing blocks Occasionally I'd buy a button and feel like it isn't really a strict upgrade. Like buying a button with a lower base $ than Standard means you'd rather not have it if you're never clicking it. Actually, the fact that there are few strict upgrades is good, but it means sometimes there is some regret upon buying a button. (I think the only strict upgrades, besides Standard and some buttons, and Trinket and Line)
• Potential rulechange? What if instead, you had 25 clicks and each board would involve clicking each button once? You'd require some different keywords (like, "Itself gains" is silly now) but you get to interact all over the board, and decide what the best way is to click the 'support' blocks.
• High score-based goals While I did try to see the best possible scores on a board, the game doesn't incentivize that because it's an incremental and you're better off spamming just to get through boards and gain money fast. You could have upgrades requiring high scores or things like that.
• Keywords I liked the keywords in the main game (I don't see many games distinguish between Wazir-move "Adjacent" and King-move "Nearby" - chess terms, by the way) and I think the symbols are clear (though the "Adjacent" symbol could have separated dots, and the origin point for both should be a different shape). You could have buttons that cared about what button was pressed before, or use the value of a different button for its own score (sort of like Row and Diagonal).
• Don't multiply negatives, that's annoying (like -10 * 1.2 = -12)
• Small UI considerations Upgraded buttons like Know have lots of text and you would want to set the space between the button name and the rest a bit smaller. With Multipliers, "gets ✘1.8" is misleading because it actually adds 1.8 to a multiplier, and doesn't actually multiply the new value. Change to "gets +✘1.8" as an example. Highscores should list starred buttons.
