adapt to LuaTeX #8

It would be good (and not too complicated I believe) to port it to LuaTeX, I'm sure many users (including me) would use it!

back when I originally wrote this, and LuaTex was still young, the consensus was that this package could not be ported due to how LuaTex dealt with unicode completely differently. I haven't looked at LuaTex since but if you have and you think it's portable, or reimplementable using LuaTeX's programming model, I won't cry foul over forking this project and just doing that =)
