TIMELINE. Scrolling is very slow in Safari 2 #213

Scrolling the timeline with Safari 2.0.4 is very slow, especially if a lot
of entries are displayed. There is always a big delay between mouse
dragging and the reaction of the timeline.
With Safari 3 beta on OS X it is as fast as with Firefox or Internet
Explorer on Windows.

What's the reason?

Safari 2.0.4, OS X 10.4.10

Additionally there is not a very high CPU load. (2.15 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)
