Rings around Sarnus and Urlum are solid pink. #46

Closed Esper89 closed 3 years ago

Esper89 commented 4 years ago

Describe the bug The rings around Sarnus and Urlum are a solid striking pink color, reminding me of the typical stand-in for a missing texture.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Install OPM on Linux via CKAN, including dependencies (Kopernicus, Module Manager, ModularFlightIntegrator).
  2. Launch the game and visit the tracking station.
  3. Enjoy the solid pink rings around Sarnus and Urlum.

Expected behavior The rings around Sarnus and Urlum would look like typical rings around gas giants and ice giants respectively. They would be orange and grey respectively.

Additional context

Hi, @Esper89, thanks for the report.

Try moving the two textures to the directory above i.e. OPM/OPM_Textures/Sarnus_ring.dds, and the same for Urlum, and then edit the two configs for Sarnus and Urlum on lines 120 and 99 respectively.

Try that and see if it resolves the issue for you.

Esper89 commented 4 years ago

Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue. I tested on both 1.9.1 and 1.10.1, on my previous testing savegames and on new savegames.

This is reportedly a Kopernicus shader issue that is present for Linux/MacOS installs. Unfortunately this is outside of my remit to fix until the issue is resolved higher up the food chain. I'll leave this issue open but please ping me when this issue can be resolved in a future Kopernicus update.

Poodmund commented 3 years ago

@Esper89, the latest versions of Kopernicus (https://github.com/Kopernicus/Kopernicus/releases) have made changes to the ring shader on Mac/Linux. Would you be able to test these new builds to see whether it has resolved your issue?

Poodmund commented 3 years ago

& @lculibrk to that matter.

Esper89 commented 3 years ago

Yes, this has resolved the issue, Sarnus looks amazing!
