Yes I need codesigning. Thanks for the reminder

Very expensive https://en.sklep.certum.pl/data-safety/code-signing-certificates/open-source-code-signing-1022.html

BecOzIcan commented 4 years ago

Sounds like this is the cost per year whatever the number of applications you release or the number of usage? I have to admit I am totally biased, this is my budget for two days of smokes :-)

@Portree-Kid am i reading that correctly? 25 euros? how much is that in US $? is it just for one app? do you have a compatible crypto card or is that part of the "expensive" side you mentioned?

@BecOzIcan i'm the same on my smokes, but i dropped cigs and moved to the small cigars... still 20 to a pack but only $17US for a carton of 10 packs... when i'm a "good boi", a pack will last me two days so $0.85US a day compared to roughly $2.50+US a day for cigs :smile_cat:

Actually it's 69 just to get your Name instead of "Unknown Publisher" and to remove the message alltogether it's €799.00 gross for 3 years. This would also severely hamper my current release schedule. Currently I just do a Git push and Travis does the work. That wouldn't work with Code signing.

Too Expensive I concur. Given the End User annoyance will disappear with the first stable version (single install required) I'd keep our cash and get drinks to celebrate (the stable version)

wkitty42 commented 4 years ago

wow! i didn't see anything like that on that page but i definitely agree on it being much too expensive... i mean, what do those people think we do? develop software for a living? develop software, sure, but not for the living they seem to be thinking of ;) :joy_cat:
