Purpose

Display social media mentions & article citations

Options

Altmetric badges are too expensive (they quoted me a £800/year minimum)
PlumX Metrics
- Company owned by Elsevier -- check terms of use & privacy and data policy
- Free badge widget
paperbuzz (require DOI, based on CrossRef data)
Check Mendeley API
Impactstory? (provides researcher profiles. Anything for publishers?)
dimensions.ai badges (looks sciency)
crossref APIs (events)

"DOAJ does not approve of the use of Impact Factors or ranking metrics. However, journals are allowed to display the Journal Impact Factor calculated by Clarivate and metrics from Scopus. Journals must not display any reference (images, links, logos) to Impact Factors or ranking metrics from any other service."

Distinction btw metrics and mentions/events: we can show social media mentions and citations of our articles without quantification / claiming to measure or rank anything.
