Ability to create 'personal' dashboards #8330

Is your feature request related to a problem?

We now have 25+ users on our PostHog instance. As they explore the app, the logical thing to do seems to be creating a dashboard.

These dashboards are often test insights and not particularly useful.

These dashboards 'get in the way' in the dashboard list.

Describe the solution you'd like

It would be great if these could be marked as 'personal' and not show in the dashboards view.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Using tags, but there doesn't seem the ability to filter out based on tags. And if there was, it seems to reset the next time you visit.

Additional context

Thank you for your feature request – we love each and every one!

Hi Joe! How about pinned dashboards? Do you have that option?

If creating personalized lists of dashboards is our main goal, then I agree that dashboard pinning might be the best solution for the short term. The set of pinned dashboards is the same for all users of the project, so we don't really have any concept of a personalized list right now. We're working to expose tags in more places and to improve filtering, so longer-term those might be options to consider for building meaningful lists of stuff. Your idea for persisting filters is interesting!

A simple solution might be to port the concept of favoriting over from insights to dashboards. This could result in a tab of just the dashboards you care about.

Somewhat related, but at a deeper level are dashboard permissions. These have more to do with access control than personalizing lists, but figured it was worth mentioning.
