[SUGGESTION] More clouds/weather phenomena #18

Space is way more interesting to look at now, but how about we bring our attention more down to Earth? Perhaps it isn't in this mod's scope, but given this mod does a lot of work with the sky, it's worth a shot. I have a few ideas for this.

Povstalec commented 4 months ago

As you said, that is not really within the scope, since it doesn't fit the theme.

Could work for a separate mod that would be compatible, but the first line of StellarView description is: "Stellar View helps your sky look just a bit better while keeping the Vanilla feeling."

Overcomplicating the clouds entirely removes the Vanilla feeling. Which is not what I'm going for.

And also, yes, these could definitely be added as something you can toggle on, while being turned off by default to keep the vanilla feeling, that would definitely work.

But I feel like it would be a waste for something cool like this to be off by default.

Basically, it's either this becomes its own thing, or I change the direction of StellarView away from Vanilla.

I feel as though these various cloud layers would be functionally identical to the normal cloud layer, just with different cloud maps, resolutions, and what not.

I think it would be more interesting to play around with this idea, with the volumetric clouds and I especially wanna see if I can use the information about rain buildup in the world to render clouds differently, to possibly have a smoother transition between clear and rainy weather, where clouds build up. Not sure yet, we'll see.

I've probably said it elsewhere, but I've changed my mind on this ever since I made Stellar View much more configurable thanks to resourcepacks, meaning that stuff that would have otherwise been relegated to configs barely anyone changes can instead be used as enhancements to resourcepacks.
