Perhaps it would be useful to extrude choosing long X axis, Y, Z.

My proposal was met by Dan  with this video

But it's a bit complicated. It would be easier to enter in the "input" window, 
the axis which extrude.

I'm new here so I have no idea if heeksCAD supports extrusions of non-planar 
closed loops, but that has *got* to be an unusual use case.  I'd suggest having 
the extrude command default to an orthogonal extrusion if the loop being 
extruded is planar (which should be a pretty trivial thing to evaluate).  I'd 
expect that to cover 99+% of the actual usage.
