What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install latest 2.0 plugin
2. Install Game Booster3
http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html
3. Instruct GB3 to end explorer.exe process when in game boost mode
4. Change song on winamp

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
the expected output is that nothing should happen other than the song change.

What I see instead is an Error Dialog
"Error Setings thumbnail buttons"

What version of Winamp are you using? What plugin version? On what
operating system? Make sure you read the FAQ before posting.

Winamp v5.621 (x86 version released on July 11th 2011)
Windows 7 x64 ultimate edition with service pack1
Windows 7 Taskbar Integration v2.0

Please provide any additional information below.
please repeat the above steps with the older taskbar integration plugin
(pre2.0) and you will notice this error does not occur.

otherwise, great plugin and much love goes to developer!

I think it tries to set the buttons, but the taskbar is gone. In the previous
versions it didn't set it, only at the startup, but this way they got lost when
the taskbar disappeared and then reappeared.

what other possible solutions to this problem are they?

I mean, I know I am experiencing quite a unique problem, and therefore a
priority fix is hardly appropriate.

However its quite annoying since I am an admin on a game server and require the
most CPU available to me, therefore closing processes like explorer.exe is an
essential and almost routine part of my life.

Maybe create an option in the plugin settings
"Reset buttons on song change: Enable/Disable"

Weird how you close the explorer, which shouldn't eat much resources, but you
keep Winamp open :D

You suggestion doesn't really seem optimal, but I'll think of another one.
Maybe a "silent" mode?

game booster does not just close explorer... it shuts down everything I do not
intend to use. This includes the windows file sharing service and a whole bunch
of other crap.
obviously I leave winamp open, as working with no music is just torture :p
