The xref discussion in http://mathbook.pugetsound.edu/examples/sample-article/html/section-cross-referencing.html talks about autoname, which I believe is deprecated. I don't fully understand how the text attribute is supposed to work, and I can't easily find documentation for it. Have things stabilized enough that the sample article cross-referencing section could be updated?

Yes, discussion about "autoname" should be removed.

Suggestions on the organization of the Author's Guide would be welcome. See sidebar Table of Contents:

Chapter 3 Overview of Features/3.3 Cross-References:

which twice references

Chapter 6 Topics/6.5 Cross-References and Citations: http://mathbook.pugetsound.edu/doc/author-guide/html/topic-cross-referencing.html
