Question - advertisement through channel list? #276

I recently downloaded a pre-sorted channel list for our Samsung TVs and it seems like it contained custom advertisements that were shown almost every time you switch the channel (a banner on the left and bottom of the screen, mostly advertising the site I got the list from plus some others).

I ended up manually sorting my [originally] exported channel list and importing it on the TV - the ads seem to be gone.

Is there a specific file or setting responsible for this, something I can modify in ChanSort?

The Pro7 and Sat.1 media groups use the TV's "HbbTV"-feature to load ads from the internet and annoy the hell out of everyone. I am glad my Hisense Smart-TV allows me to disable HbbTV on a per-channel basis, so I can at least keep HbbTV on for ORF channels and use the "Mediathek" for those. I'm not sure if Samsung can disable it per-channel or if that setting affects all channels. I am not aware if this setting is part of the Samsung channel list. I know some other TVs have it in the list. Currently ChanSort has no option to edit the HbbTV setting. Definitely something I should keep in mind for later versions, but I can't tell at the moment when I will find time again to work on ChanSort. Probably not before February.

Thanks for the quick reply. I can't say for certain if it was duo to the downloaded channel list. It did feel odd to get one ad after another including ads for the page I got the list from. Maybe it just appeared that way because of the new channel order and bad luck of getting advertisements through HbbTV. It did feel like there was less after using the manually sorted list but it could also be a matter of hitting some ad serving limit on those channels.

Whenever you get to it. ChanSort is already a huge help as it is.
