Philips Android TV stopped working (worked last year!) #339

Hi, I have Philips OLED 806 series - using 115 channel folder and I managed to use ChanSort after set up last year in March successfully (it allowed me to rename & rearrange all channels, not possible to delete anything but I moved all unnecessary channels to the end. Today I wanted to use it again and I can't find a way to export the file(s) from the TV to the USB stick - prompting the error "Device not registered" (I tried to format, format in TV, several USB sticks, nothing). Any idea? Or at least is anyone experiencing the same (google is silent on this for me)? Thanks

I haven't heard of this particular situation yet, so I can only give some general advice.

It's always best to use a USB stick <= 16 GB formatted with FAT32 (not NTFS nor exFAT, which are typically used for larger sticks). TVs very often have trouble working with anything other than FAT32.

Try connecting the USB stick and then restarting or unplugging the TV. When it boots up, it should detect the stick properly. You could also try another USB port on the TV. Maybe one got damaged at some point. (You can also connect a PC keyboard or mouse to test if the USB port is working fine. Both devices work fine with Android, even on cell phones :)

There are also plenty of bad/fake USB sticks around that cause data corruption. SanDisk, Maxtor, Kingston and other "big brands" typically have good quality. (But I also have plenty of noname sticks that work fine, while others had bad cells). I used https://www.heise.de/download/product/h2testw-50539 to test all my sticks. For cheap/slow sticks it takes a loooong time however, while SanDisk Extreme and other high-speed USB sticks are 50 times faster.

Unrelated to the issue at hand, I did receive some feedback about TVs with format 115 which didn't load the modified list properly. I have not been able to find out any details, as I have also received successful feedback in the past. Could be that either Philips changed the firmware later on or that I added a bug to ChanSort that I'm unaware of.
